A downloadable game for Windows

Ya just wanted to play some video games, buuut the lights aren't going to stay on by themselves.  Not that you need them as prime gaming hours are late in the night when everyone else finally logs off, but still.  Games aren't cheap and those freebie food delivery deals are runnin' low.

With a resigned sigh, you decide to restock your financial reserves and take whatever you can find.  Bright and early, today, you start your job cleaning "Recordin' Dustries" an apparently big-shot recording studio.  Knowing how important today is, you naturally pulled an all-nighter with your online friend and the rest is a bit fuzzy.  Loot was involved. At least of purple quality, ya remember smiling about that, but you'll figure out the rest of the details the minute you wake up...

Trying to keep the spoilers light, but here's a bit to whet your appetite:

Welcome to Recordin' Dustries!  A Totally Free 90° Mascot Horror Comedy!

Totally Free
As the gaming world has had a few rough releases, I kindly offer my first true video game for all my fellow gamers, for free.  May you have a ton of fun with it and I hope it brings you excitement, suspense, and joy.

90°
Saikuo loves him some squares!  Taking minimalistic art and low-poly to the extreme, everything has a purposefully blocky, voxel-y vibe that is equal parts spartan, recognizable, and easy on the processor.

Mascot Horror Comedy
Mascot Horror requires a memorable mascot. Thankfully our Guest has seen no shortage of action during his impressively long career and his personality is a perfect fit for this exact type of gameplay.  Don't worry, he'll be gentle -_^
Unless...?

Replayability
One of the biggest goals was keeping things new and exciting, so there's plenty inside to surprise you.  More will be added in the future, but there is a shockingly healthy amount already present.

Voice Acting
Ever get bummed out when games only have one or two voice lines per character?  Well that is not a problem here.  Learn the lore of our Guest organically while playing the game, which is handy as ya might be low on time...

Multiple Endings
From goofy to genuine, each are fully voice-acted and 'the big ones' are animated!

No load screens
While our Guest may be from beyond the Field of Stars, we left the load screens in the Dark Void where they belong.

Music
In keeping with the 90° aesthetic, the music tracks has been mixed to run at 90bpm.

Square Screen Mode
Aaand I might have added the option to play the game with a square resolution for giggles.

Directional Audio
Just like it sounds (ha!) you'll be able to locate things entirely with your ears, from distant sound effects to someone nearly breathing down your neck.  Some will find this helpful and informative, others will be immersed and petrified.  I'm happy with both outcomes ^_^  Headphones are more precise than speakers, but either option works.

Controls
Usual first person stuff you probably know instinctually:
WASD to move, Shift to run and Ctrl to crouch, Left and Right Mouse Buttons to interact

System Requirements
My system is goin' on ten years old and it runs smooth, so nearly any PC should be able to play it.  Just in case, didn't want to leave anyone out, so I was sure to add many resolution options so that even toasters could run it.  Though be prepared, the smaller resolutions may fill some with nostalgia.

Install Directions
Download, unzip, run the game! If you've played recent Unreal games it should work out of the box, but if not or if you get a pop-up saying you need some missing files, there is an UE4PrereqSetup included that will get those files for you.  I tested the game on my spare laptop and saw Windows ask if I wanted them to get me those missing files instead, so if you'd prefer you can try that way, too.

Also I turned the sound down to 60% on a fresh install, so feel free to crank that bad boy up to whatever you are comfortable with in the in-game Options menu.

Troubleshooting
If you hear music, but have a black screen hold Alt and press Enter.  That'll pop ya into Windowed mode and everything should work A-Okay.

If while turning around you see weird glitchy brick patterns, that's probably 'screen tearing'.  If that happens, Esc back to the Main Menu and try different settings (Fullscreen, Windowed, Fullscreen Windowed, Sync on or Off) until they go away.  Fullscreen tends to do the trick.

Plans for the future
Aiming to update the game regularly and squash any bugs I might have missed, add even more dialog options if all parties involved can spare the time to record em, and maybe a few other surprises here and there.

Questions, Comments, praises of adoration?
Lemme know in the comments below!  Ooo and send links to any playthroughs ya do!  I'll be sure to pass em on to Spac... our Guest.

Now have fun you two -_^ Good luck!

Install instructions

Hey, ya downloaded it!  Congratulations!  If you're familiar with Zipped files, ya know the drill.  Extract all, open the folder, double-click UE4Prereq if you need anything first, or/and then the RecordinDustries.exe icon and the rest should be smooth sailin'!

If you aren't familiar with Zipped files, I'm pretty sure Windows has stuff included for free on all recent builds, but you download this file, wait for it to finish, and when it's done, right click it and choose Extract All.  It'll ask where ya wanna save it to, it should put it in a folder there automatically.  When it's done, open up the folder and double-click UE4PrereqSetup and that'll give you any files Unreal needs to run properly.  Then you should be all set!  Double-click RecordinDustries.exe and it'll start!  If you are stuck on a black screen and only hear music but don't see anything else, hold Alt and press Enter.  That should fix it.  Change any settings you'd like in the in-game Options menu, then have fun and enjoy!
